Full 18-Hole Rounds
An 18-hole disc golf course is the standard full round, similar to traditional golf. These courses offer the most complete disc golf experience — enough holes to test every disc in your bag, develop a rhythm during your round, and feel a genuine sense of accomplishment when you finish. A typical 18-hole round takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on the course length, group size, and pace of play.
Why Play 18 Holes?
While 9-hole courses are great for quick rounds and beginners, 18-hole courses offer several advantages. The longer format lets you settle into your game — first-tee nerves fade by hole 4 or 5, and your throwing mechanics naturally improve as your body warms up. Most tournaments are played on 18-hole courses, so playing full rounds prepares you for competitive play. And the back nine often features a course designer's most creative and challenging holes.
What to Bring for 18 Holes
For a full 18-hole round, bring plenty of water (at least 32 oz), a snack, sunscreen, and a towel. Comfortable shoes are essential — you'll walk 1.5 to 3 miles over the course of the round. Check out our complete packing checklist.
